Hunger in the land of plenty

Food Stamps or SNAP benefits have been cut just in time for Thanksgiving and Christmas by Conservative Congressmen that brag about their Christianity, (never mind JC saying to never do that). To be fair, 'real' Christians like them practice their faith every day, they keep as many people as possible poor and hungry whether it's a holiday or not.

Well we know the conservative mantra is (according to the great conservative hero, Bill Bennett)you have to keep them hungry in order for them to pay attention, of course I'm not quoting Bill verbatim but back when he made his infamous remarks, good old Bill was of course supporting the cutting of school lunch programs for poor, disadvantaged kids.

So it isn't unreasonable for the Teapulicans to extend this form of humanitarian Ayn Randisim to cuts in the SNAP program to needy families.

It just makes sense to conservatives that hungry people should starve which should in turn help them focus more on working harder at their minimum wage jobs.

In their world, being poor is a crime so cutting food stamps is just punishment for these non-deserving, entitlement dependent types.

After all if they can't pull themselves up by their boot straps, why should the rest of us care whether or not they can even afford boots.

Ayn Rand gets quoted a lot these days by conservative teapots just don't remind them that she too ended up on the entitlement gravy train: Social Security.

There's this book out there and it's divided up into chapters and verses. Somewhere in there. . .I think it was called Matthew 25:40, this cat said, "And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."

I wonder what he was talking about?
