The 80%, the new minority

If you poll the population on individual liberal values, one at a time, 80% favor each and every one of them. In fact the conservative base loves all the rights, privileges and benefits that liberals have given them. It was liberals that dumped the tea in Boston harbor after blocking the British East India Company from docking in New York and Baltimore, not teabag conservatives. Yet the teabaggers want the the liberals to "keep their government hands off their Social Security and Medicare". If the American public actually knew the facts there would never be another Republican elected. Of course with electronic voting, it doesn't matter what the 80% wants.

Hey can you post your source for this polling. I agree with your comment 100%. Refreshingly sane look at things. Also whats your take on the integrity of polling itself and is there any oversight or laws regulating their business?

You see polls like this every few years, and I don't recall the name of the last one I saw. Frankly I'm surprised its only 80%, but the hardcore right is about 20% of the population. They've been well trained to think that way, but they still take the benefits. Polling is only as good as the questions asked, beware of any poll that only gives you the answers and not word for word the questions they asked. In general poll sampling is quite scientific and accurate within the "margin of error", which they should also tell you. There really aren't any laws about it, just competition between companies to keep them honest, a major polling company won't allow their numbers to be lied about by their clients. Parties and candidates hire their own polling and will brag about it if it's going their way. Silence can be interpreted to have great meaning at times.

P2,
I believe that as long as the electoral college exists, there will be no free and fair counting of votes. Manipulate just a few states, and you have your winner. Your post sounds a lot like Chomsky... In his view, most of what goes on in government would not survive a true referendum. Especially the part about killing 3rd world innocents for no "apparent" reason. No one ever asks us, however. As for pollsters: Zogby has been sold to the Brazilians, and they now have a Saudi on their board. Just saying! In New York, your vote never counts. But I persist anyway. Keep on truckin'...
