The talking points were ready in advance

It’s inappropriate to characterize the unconscionable behavior of Republicans as simply racism toward the President or even as low ball politics. They don’t really care if Obama is black, white or green, and of course they like being in power, but the billionaires who pay the lobbyists spend even more money on them when they are on the out. Their goals are more basic and well reasoned, Republicans do nothing that isn’t planned out for them.

Yesterday it appeared that House Republicans had really stepped in it by rejecting the bill signed off on by nearly all of the Senate Republicans. But the talking points were all ready, and everyone had them memorized including all the corporate news writers. All of a sudden it was the Senate Democrats who were abusing not only the jobless by making them live month to month, but the Democrats are abusing the job creators as well with all this “uncertainty“. It seems the job creators need to know just exactly how desperate the potential serfs are going to be in the coming year.

It’s incredible that a six figure salary will so easily get people to commit treason. What Republicans are about might not technically be called treason (unless you count transnational corporations as a foreign power), but it is certainly insurrection, or to use a phrase from the Red Scare era, “conspiracy to overthrow the government of the United States“. Republicans would say they are the government and represent the people. Capturing the government by fraud doesn’t make you the legitimate government of the people. They do the opposite of what they are saying at every turn to the benefit of a handful of billionaires. These people are bent on making the 99% into serfs and ending democracy forever, and they call themselves patriots. Real patriots spilled their blood to rid us of these same people.

The Tea Party, Ron Paul and the libertarians appeal to the people who grew up in the thirty years since Ron Reagan and his cult ended education in history, civics and critical thinking in general. These young people know something is wrong but they don’t really know what. They’ve been “educated” with an entirely made up version of history, and taught a kind of economics that doesn’t really work.

They think that America was built by rugged individuals, when the reality is that nothing was ever done that way. They believe the myths of Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett while the real men with those names depended on the cooperation of all the people around them. Nobody has ever made it on their own, but libertarians are sure if all the rules were done away with, then they can reach their full potential. People will flock to them, shower them with money (gold only please) and finally accept the wisdom they have been delivering from the stool at the end of the bar.

They just don’t grasp that their real enemy has been robbing them of their potential, their wealth and their heritage as an American. Their real enemy is capitalism, they don’t get that capitalism is not the opposite of socialism. Capitalism is just form of totalitarianism based on economic fraud. If a foreign enemy landed in their town, burned every business district for 40 miles in every direction and forced them to work at starvation wages they would be calling for revolution. Walmart does this with every store they open, but the libertarians like the “low” prices and will shop there faithfully, even if it costs him everything.  www.prairie2.com

You cover a lot of territory today. The historical reality is that there have always been the 1%. In the past they were called "kings", "tyrants" and "dictators".Now they are called "corporations." In current America, sadly, the real enemy of the "people" have been the "people" themselves.

In the words of Herman Cain, "If you suddenly find yourself a serf, "blame yourself." You stopped paying attention.

Everyday.

Generally, if you ask the person on the street what he or she thinks about a bill their Congressman or Senator has submitted on almost any given day they will return a blank stare. Most do not even know, or care who their representatives are and have no idea how these people
( otherwise known as their government) effect their everyday lives.

Politicians count on people having no clue.

In a Democracy or in a Democratic Republic, to abdicate one's responsibility as a citizen participant is the end of that society. If you ignore those who control your life you will soon become irrelevant.

The average American has made himself irrelevant.

You can point to "capitalism" as the enemy but that is also nothing more than a plan or a system as good as those who participate in it ethically. The best system will fail if it becomes corrupted by greedy, dishonest people.
The American citizen has become his own worst enemy. He became distracted by cheap Chinese and the illusion of affluence.

The middle class has taken absolutely every aspect of their lives for granted; their home, their job, their lifestyle, their kids school and all that was inherited by them built by the work of past generations.

They have become so far removed from the knowledge of who actually has been in control of their lives at any waking moment that they walk around in a zombie-like socio-economic coma.

This reality is becoming clearer to all of us as so many find their comfortable homes suddenly foreclosed out from under them and are now living in roadside rest stops in their cars.

Does it ever occur to any of us that we may have sent a criminal to Congress and he is stealing the money we dutifully send him every April 15th? The 1% will always be there as long as they have zero opposition.

The social/economic systems of Socialism and Capitalism can work together to socialize risks of capitalist practices that enable efficient transfers of goods at a fair price. Capitalism is not a moral and ethical system and will eventually fail complex and high tech cultures. Socialism with it's emphasis on justice, freedom, and central control will not efficiently meet the needs of complex and high tech cultures. Socialism is similar to insurance in that a group of folks collectively pay for a policy that socialized risks. Fair wages and a stable and healthy and productive society are crucial to successful implementation of capitalism.

Bill doesn't get it Socialism and Capitalism aren't sets of rules that came down from the mountain on stone tablets. Capitalism, as it is currently practiced in the US and other lawless regions of the world is simply a badge that is flashed by a crooked cop about to shake you down. The Soviet Union was organized into giant monopolistic corporations run for the benefit of the managerial class. They had socialism to provide "Fair wages and a stable and healthy and productive society are crucial to successful implementation of capitalism." The same people run Russia now, just without the pretense of socialism. We are going full speed toward the same system. Everything owned by corporations, and run for the benefit of the few.

You're right, and I don't know what we can do to fix it. That's what many people who are paying attention are thinking. Where do we start? At the ballot box? The system of elected leadership is totally broken. Any hints?

"Where do we start?" Knowledge is the only thing that can't be countered once it's deployed. There are many tracks this could take. The more people that involved the better the outcome.

Every system that has ever existed in history has been run by actual flesh and blood people who have real names, and lived in a cave ,a temple,a teepee, a castle or a house with an address and now phone numbers,an email address, Facebook pages you name it.

It's always been possible to contact a tyrant if you really have the courage to. It's never been easier than now! Pick one, call him on the phone or e-mail him and have a chat!
