preserve, protect and defend

At one point in Obama's speech today he misspoke saying "I took an oath to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution as commander in chief...". This would be a Constitutional error in that he did not take the office as "Commander in Chief " but rather he is President of the United States; "commander in chief" is a responsibility of the office he holds and not his office. Unlike the trained chimp who soiled the Oval Office rug and thought he had been elected "Commander In Chief " or the psychopath who held his leash, Obama does understand this.

In the context of Obama’s speech about the War Crimes committed by the Bush Crime Family; he refers to himself as commander in chief and to the President’s oath of office in the same sentence. He is making the point that the President cannot suspend the Constitution of the United States just because he likes to play dress up soldier games.

He is also sending a message to Cheney and his ilk that he is the most powerful single man on the planet having been duly elected President of the United States by the people. Rather than having been appointed by his daddy’s cronies.

PS: the reports of Obama wanting to act like the BCF and preemptively detain people has got to be bat squeeze. Conspiracy charges are enough to incarcerate anybody who is a real threat. The idea that Obama is considering what amounts to a gulag system and doing so in an open meeting no less, is not believable.
